KFS is a non-denominational school which proudly represents students from more than 20 different countries. Its multicultural atmosphere is both warm and friendly. Council of International Schools (CIS) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) jointly accredited Korea Foreign School is an affiliated member the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the East Asia Regional Council for Overseas Schools (EARCOS), and the Korea Council of Overseas Schools (KORCOS). KFS is an IB World School. Korea Foreign School is an IB World School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and for Middle Years Programme (MYP). PYP and MYP are fully inclusive programmes where all students participate in the IB curricula.
For a student to be an effective global citizen, he/she must be able to logically interpret and utilize the intersection between people and the community as a guide in decision making. In addition to the basic academic program, students will participate in both local and extended field trips. Students will have opportunities to perform music and drama and to display artwork.
The school year consists of 180 teaching days and extends from the middle of August to the middle of June, with holidays in December/January, April and June/July. Additionally, the school observes Korean national holidays. Grades 1 to 10 start at 8:30 am and end at 3:00 pm. After School Activities are provided from 3:05 pm to 4:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Maximum class sizes are targeted at 16 students.
Hot lunches are available for the students – these are paid for separately by the parents.
